Man fatally shot in the head on East 169th Street in the Bronx

The fatal shooting on East 169th Street adds to the city’s growing list of unresolved gun violence cases.

BRONX, N.Y. — A 56-year-old man was shot and killed Thursday night in the Bronx, police said.

Officers from the 42nd Precinct responded to a 911 call at approximately 9:20 p.m. reporting a person shot in front of 621 East 169th Street. Upon arrival, they found the victim unconscious and unresponsive with a gunshot wound to the head.

Emergency medical services transported the man to Saint Barnabas Hospital. Despite life-saving efforts, he was pronounced dead at the hospital.

“The identity of the deceased is being withheld pending proper family notification,” police said in a statement.

As of Friday, no arrests have been made and the investigation remains ongoing.

Detectives from the NYPD’s 42nd Precinct are actively investigating the circumstances surrounding the shooting. Authorities have not released any information regarding potential suspects or motives.

The incident marks the latest shooting in the Bronx, an area that has seen a series of violent incidents in recent weeks.
