by Local News Report

OXON HILL, MD – A Washington, D.C., man who had never played Racetrax before struck beginner’s luck with a $54,140 win after placing a $14 bet at a liquor store in Prince George’s County.

The winning ticket was purchased on May 30 at Eastover Liquors, located at 4909 Indian Head Highway in Oxon Hill. The player selected horses 1, 11, 7, and 8 in a Superfecta box for four races, landing a sizable payout. He claimed his prize on Tuesday.

Maryland Lottery officials confirmed the man took advantage of an ongoing Racetrax promotion that gives players $6 in bets for $5, reducing the cost of his wager from $16 to $14.

Eastover Liquors will receive a retailer bonus of $541.40 for selling the winning ticket, equal to 1% of the prize value.

The Racetrax promotion continues through June 22, offering players discounted betting options on the virtual horse-racing game.
