New Jersey Comcast Customers Will Get YES Network, Yankees Games…For Now

NEW YORK, NY — Comcast subscribers in New York and New Jersey will retain access to New York Yankees broadcasts on YES Network—at least through the end of the month—after both sides agreed to a short-term extension in their ongoing carriage dispute.

The deal pushes the blackout deadline to 11:59 p.m. ET on March 31. YES Network had been scheduled to go dark on Comcast systems at midnight Friday.

Key Points

  • Comcast and YES Network extend talks to avoid immediate blackout
  • New deadline for a deal is 11:59 p.m. ET on March 31
  • Comcast wants YES moved to a premium tier; YES pushing to remain basic

The extension is “at least the 10th in this ongoing negotiation,” according to Fisher, suggesting a willingness on both sides to eventually reach a long-term agreement.

However, talks remain contentious. Comcast reportedly wants to shift YES Network to a more expensive premium tier, while YES is fighting to stay in its current basic cable package.

Comcast has taken a similar approach with other regional sports networks, including moving its own NBC Sports channels to higher-priced tiers ahead of the 2025 baseball season.

Without a finalized deal by the new deadline, millions of Comcast subscribers could lose access to Yankees games as the MLB regular season gets underway.

A temporary deal keeps Yankees games on air for Comcast users—but the threat of a blackout still looms.
