Homicide suspect charged more than a year after D.C. killing

WASHINGTON, D.C. — A 31-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a deadly shooting that occurred more than a year ago in Northwest D.C., the Metropolitan Police Department announced Thursday.

On February 12, 2024, officers responded to the 900 block of Shepherd Street, Northwest, around 2:41 a.m. following reports of gunfire. Upon arrival, they discovered 32-year-old Jeremy Johnson of Southeast, D.C., suffering from life-threatening gunshot wounds. Despite emergency medical efforts, Johnson was pronounced dead at the scene.

Following a lengthy investigation, MPD homicide detectives secured a warrant for the arrest of Orlando Anderson, who has no fixed address. He was taken into custody on March 26, 2025, and charged with Second Degree Murder While Armed.

No additional details regarding motive or circumstances have been released. The case remains under investigation.
