by Breaking Local News Report

SOMERVILLE, NJ – Amitoj Oberoi, a 30-year-old resident of Somerset, New Jersey, entered guilty pleas to two counts of first-degree Vehicular Homicide on Tuesday, June 18, 2024. The pleas were made before the Honorable Jonathan W. Romankow, J.S.C., and could result in a 15-year prison sentence, with 85% to be served before eligibility for parole under the No Early Release Act. Oberoi also pleaded guilty to a motor vehicle offense for Driving While Intoxicated.

The charges stem from a fatal incident on August 27, 2023, when Oberoi was involved in a vehicle crash on Route 27 in Franklin Township. The crash claimed the lives of two passengers, Carlos Perez-Gaytan, 24, of Somerset, NJ, and Victor Cabrera-Francisco, 20, of North Brunswick, NJ.

Sentencing is scheduled for August 14, 2024, where Judge Romankow will deliver the final decision on Oberoi’s case.
