93-Year-Old Man Suffers Critical Burns in Brush Fire

CRESAPTOWN, MD – Charles W. Armstrong is in critical condition after losing control of a brush fire on his property in the 15100 block of Long Hill Drive.

The incident occurred Tuesday afternoon when Armstrong was tending to a brush fire. He was overcome and sustained first, second, and third-degree burns.

Maryland State Police Trooper 5 airlifted him to the Burn Center at MedStar Washington Hospital Center.

Firefighters from Cresaptown Vfd and nearby departments, along with paramedics from the Allegany County Department of Emergency Services, initially treated Armstrong on the scene. He was then flown to the DC area burn center, where he remains in critical condition.
